ALBERT COLLINS

"I BOUGHT AN ORGAN ONE TIME, MAN, GOT RIPPED OFF WHEN I WAS COMING OUT OF PORT ARTHUR. I PLAYED DOWN THERE A LOT. I USED TO CUT ALL MY RECORDS IN BEAUMONT.  THERE WAS JOHNNY WINTER, JANIS JOPLIN, WE ALL HUNG OUT TOGETHER FOR A LONG TIME. I WAS CUTTING FOR BIG BOPPER ENTERPRISE. THEY NAMED IT AFTER HIM AFTER HE GOT KILLED IN THE PLANE CRASH WITH BUDDY HOLLY."

"WE CUT A LOT OF STUFF IN BEAUMONT. JANIS WAS WITH ME WHEN I CUT "FROSTY" IN '62.   SHE WAS JUST A KID. JANIS DIDN'T SING SHE WAS JUST HANGING OUT.   AND I WAS WITH JOHNNY WINTER WHEN EDGAR WAS JUST A BABY. JOHNNY WAS VERY YOUNG,  ABOUT EIGHTEEN OR NINETEEN OR SO. IN 1980 JOHNNY AND I DID AN ALBUM TOGETHER AT THE NEW MORNING FESTIVAL IN GENEVA, SWITZERLAND."

AS TOLD TO ALAN GOVENAR IN THE BOOK "MEETING THE BLUES" 1988
